I look upon George W. "Comfortably Dumb" Bush wanting Tim Russert to host a "debate" for him as a coward's way out of a true debate. He knows Russert is a partisan for the GOP, and I suspect he thinks he can get away with he and Russert ganging up on Gore. Bush knows Larry King is only a softball lobber, and that's why he's also acceptable.

If you pay my expenses until the day after the election, I'll be glad to add some badly needed perspective to your campaign coverage, to wit :

"Governor Bush, did you describe New York Times reporter Adam Clymer as a 'major league asshole' because :

A. Jesus has changed your heart;
B. You want to bring dignity and honor back to the White House;
C. You've seen the scouting reports -- Clymer can hold his own with any asshole in the pros."

"Governor Bush, you've said it's time to put plain-speaking people in the White House. Your Brother John (JEB!) and your opponent Al Gore have admitted to smoking marijuana. Isn't it time you tell us what illegal drugs you've used?"

"Governor Bush, you've said people that you've had executed have had full access to the court system. Considering a number of the executed were defended by lawyers who were later disbarred or disciplined for unprofessional conduct or inept performance, do you think systemic court problems have led to the execution of any innocent people in Texas?"

MSNBC, give me a response. I'll give your news team the balance it needs.
